OPEN 'CAFE SPIRITUEL' EVENINGS Humanity is now too clever to be able to live without wisdom. E F Schumacher The Idea Following the success of its international conference on ‘The Emerging Spirituality Revolution, the educational charity Wrekin Trust is creating a new national initiative of ‘Cafés Spirituels’ where people can come together on a local basis to explore and share spiritual topics and concerns in an open and supportive atmosphere. Although the Internet has enabled an extraordinary web of global communication, we believe that something more is now required on a personal level, involving face-to-face dialogue and exchange. The local café spirituel can become a place where we can build community and connection, opening ourselves to new ideas and new people. Following the success of a roundtable discussion on spirituality and ecology in September, we are now arranging a series of three evening meetings at Pillars of Hercules organic café between Falkland and Strathmiglo (see their site under ‘contact’ for a map). The evenings will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a bowl of soup, although people can arrive earlier if they want to do some shopping. The formal part of the meeting will take place between 7:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., after which people will be welcome to stay on for a hot drink until 9:30 p.m. Other snacks will also be available. After a short round of personal introductions, each evening will be introduced for 20-25 minutes by a local speaker, after which there will be an opportunity to discuss the topic, both in small groups and in plenary. Cost, including a bowl of soup: £6. Next meeting Thursday March 20th – Pilgrimage: A Link between Inner and Outer Life, with Rev. Dr. Ian Bradley, author and Lecturer in Divinity at St. Andrews University. Please contact David Lorimer on david.lorimer@btconnect.com for more details. All are most welcome! www.pillars.co.uk www.ufsforum.org
